Lefkada to Meganisi

Our trip starts at about 14.30, from Lefkada marina to Meganisi Island.

The morning offers sightseeing from Madouri islet, also known as the "island of Valaoritis" - a small uninhabited island, owned by Aristotle Valaoritis, a 19th-century Greek poet and from Scorpios Island (Aristotle Onassis' private paradise). There we’ll enjoy some time swimming, snorkeling and sup at one of the beaches in crystal clear waters.

Early afternoon has us dock in the port of Meganisi - a favorite destination for sailing aficionados, with lush, thick vegetation and untouched coasts.  Its turquoise, crystal-clear waters reflecting the intact, natural splendor in the evening and after some leisurely hiking to the village of Spartochori we will enjoy our first dinner at a local tavern.

Meganisi to Ithaca (Kioni port)

After a tasty breakfast to set us up for the day, it’s time to start our sailing to the Ionian Islands and Ithaca known as the home island of Ulysses from Homer's Odyssey. Ithaca belongs to the Ionian island group and apart from its mythical essence, it boasts incredible natural beauty.

Before reaching its port, we set off for the historic and remarkable Papanikolis Cave (actually the second largest sea cave in Greece) shot into prominence during World War II by virtue of being a secret hideaway for a war submarine. Here, we stop for swim, sup and snorkeling into the majestic and deserted islet of Arkoudi.

Early afternoon we dock in the port of Kioni- the North-East part of Ithaca, for a light and healthy lunch before hiking in one of the most popular hiking routes of Ithaca which connects the seaside Kioni with the mountainous Anogi. At the village square in Anogi we enjoy a well-deserved delicious dinner after which we return to the port via van.

Kioni to Kefalonia (Assos village)

Our next destination after our breakfast on the Ionian Hike & Sail touris Kefalonia. This green island of crystal clear waters of greenish-blue colors will take your breath away. Kefalonia is a gem in the Ionian Sea. It carries a rich history in cultural tradition. It’s the biggest Ionian Island and the green of its mountains blend with the blue of the water making it a truly unique and beloved destination.

On the way to Cephalonia we first stop for swimming, snorkeling and sup in one breathtaking beach Afales in Ithaca. After early midday we dock to Assos village. It is a charming and colorful village perched on the turquoise waters edge of this beautiful Greek island.  After a wonderful refreshing lunch, we will walk to the castle which is a stunning example of Venetian architecture. Visiting this castle requires quite a long walk. The route will take you through stunning olive tree forests to the arched castle entrance.Assos is a charming village perched on the water’s edge, boasting Venetian ruins where we’ll enjoy it.

Assos to Fiskardo

Day 4 of our Ionian Hike and Sail Tour continues on Kefalonia island. After breakfast, we leave Assos village for a sail to a significant bay of the island, where we can swim and sup in its crystal clear blue waters before heading for, and after that we set off to   the historic harbor village of Fiskardo. Here, we look forward to hiking among its untouched treasures. Battarias trail is the longest trail of the Fiscardo hikes. It connects several villages, and caves from 2^ndWorld War and passes through all landscapes that the peninsulas offer.  At the end of this day we’ll take in the cosmopolitan, vibrant and stylish vibe of this port

Fiskardo to Vathi (Ithaca)

Day 5 of our Hike and Sail Ionian Tour we return back to Ithaca. Vathi the capital of the island, is an attractive settlement with a pronounced Venetian influence and has been classified by law as a ‘traditional’ settlement. It nestles safely in the beautiful natural harbour that has been identified as the Homeric harbour of Phorcys. This is where the sea-god Phorcys had his temple and where the Phaeacians left the sleeping Odysseus. After lunch we take an easy hike from Vathyto one of the most beautiful beaches of the island where we can relax and swim.

Sailing: 14.5 N.Miles (approx. 2 hours)

Hiking: 9 Km (approx. 2 1/2 hours)

Vathi to Kalamos (via Atokos)

Day 6 of our Hike and Sail IonianTour and we are off sailing from Ithaca with a first stop in Atokos island for swimming, snorkeling and supping in a hideaway, blessed with lovely beaches. We arrive at Kalamos an ultimate island for peace and quiet, and an appealingly, simple way of life. After a lunch on board we’ll go on foot from Episkopi to Kalamos port through Kastromonastiro (Castle – Monastery) between the trees and below the sea and lacy beaches with white pebbles to finish off day 5 of our adventure.

Hiking: 8 Km (approx. 2 hours)

Kalamos to Lefkada town

Day 7 of our Hike and Sail Ionian Tour ends on Lefkada island. After our last swimming occasion on Asproyali and Gerakas beach in the mainland, we set off for the marina of Lefkada. After the usual light and delicious lunch we will cycle the city, and walk into ‘sokakia’ and the squares to meet wide spiritual tradition, temperamental Heptanisian culture and the unique feature of the island which is the breath of the sea combined with the scent of pine trees, which has seen Lefkada being home to some of the most sensitive, poetic souls. Finally after a massage for body, soul and skin rejuvenation, we’ll share a memorable good bye dinner.
